The Connecting Communities Australia team connects skilled volunteers and communities with a focus on promoting long term, self sustaining solutions.
WHO WE ARE
Glenn has more than 20 years’ experience connecting skilled volunteers with communities across Africa, Asia and Australia. Programs included the renovation of schools, medical centres and child care centres, the implementation of health and education programs and the installation of solar energy and irrigation systems.
Glenn has worked with farming and indigenous communities across Australia. Initially with Aboriginal mentoring and cultural programs in Sydney and more recently, running skilled volunteering programs in farming communities in Queensland, NSW and South Australia.
Lisa Ranson is a communication specialist and strategic advisor dedicated to building social license and doing good. Lisa chairs the advisory board for Connecting Communities Australia and supports the organisation's growth through working with the board of directors to shape business decisions.
David brings exceptional managerial experience to the CCA Board. He founded Hubbed and has been CEO for 8 years. Prior to that he worked for 14 years in various managerial roles at Microsoft. His business background has helped promote CCA’s community work in rural and remote communities to the business sector.
His knowledge and experience as Founder of Hubbed has also helped set the strategy, culture and vision of CCA.
Having David on the Board has ensured a high level of governance is in place at CCA.
My name is Lavinia Williams nee Gibbs. I am a Yuwaalaraay woman with ties to the Gamilaraay Nation. My traditional homeland is Goodooga, a small village located in Northwest New South Wales, where I lived up until I was 12 years old.
Although I have not lived on my Country since then,I maintain my cultural connection and go home regularly to replenish. It is very important to me that I give back to my community as this was taught to me as a kid. It is proper to reciprocate. This is part of my lore.
The importance of maintaining connection to home has always been part of my journey and when I joined the CCA team, I worked with them to establish our program 'Schools Walking Together' with the aim to share and learn through cultural exchange.
David has worked extensively with organisations in Australia and overseas as a hands-on business leader to support large transformation programs. This included working across a diverse range of industries, including Aviation, Transport, Education, Media, Mining services (Insurance, Health and Mines Rescue) and financial services.
Over his 40-year career, he held several senior operational / people management and Change management consulting roles.
David joined the CCA Board in November 2021 and brings his vast experience to CCA at a very important period of growth and change for the organisation.
He has also become an active member of our volunteer team - working on several projects.
Catherine is an HR professional at NSW Health Pathology , and has over 40 years working experience in tourism, aviation and Health sectors.
She has worked in many different roles in this time in HR and operational management including organisation development and training. Her depth of experience brings strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills well as a passion for change management and the people aspects around improving workplace culture. She is also a keen volunteer with us and has experienced firsthand the valuable contribution CCA makes in the communities we work in.
Her knowledge, people management and development as well as all areas of HR will assist Connecting Communities Australia in key areas of the business and building a strong future state for CCA.
Matthew is a leader in regulatory affairs, governance, strategy, and policy. He has ten years’ experience in senior roles in government, having worked for a range of Ministers including the Premier of Queensland. He has in-depth experience across a range of policy areas, advocacy, regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, and political campaigns.
Matthew currently works for Australia’s largest customer-owned bank, Great Southern Bank, where he is responsible for corporate governance and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Great Southern Bank, Matthew managed compliance and risk management for the largest privately-owned contractor to the Australian Department of Defence. He is also the Managing Director of Whitecliff Advisory which is a specialist advisory firm providing expert guidance and counsel to industry and business on policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation.
After a long career in IT and Finance, Chris worked in the non profit sector for a few years helping with the redevelopment of workplace giving fundraising systems.
An experienced communicator and grant writer Chris decided to assist Connecting Communities Australia in their fundraising and grant applications.
